  1. What is the Spirit School?
The Spirit School is a year long Medicine Path & Reiki certification program. You will graduate the program as a Spirit School Level 4 Practitioner with the portal open to Reiki Master when you're ready. This training will teach you how to find clarity and an understanding of your personal path & medicine in this lifetime.
Beyond just a Reiki certification program, this is a course about healing your spirit and Walking in Beauty. This is a course to integrate sacred work with daily life, to understand the shadows within and without, and to trust in Universal and personal truth.

Along with Reiki, we explore many other modalities and traditions including Shamanism, Brainwaves in relation to states of consciousness, Anatomy, Non Violent Communication, Hara Assessments, Chakra Therapy, Native American Spirituality, Crystals Therapy, Aromatherapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tarot, Animal Medicine, Chromotherapy, Symbols of many different cultures, Sacred Geometry, and so on.

  2. What is Reiki?
This is something we explore in depth in Level One. Reiki is both a word and a practice.
The word Reiki is a Japanese word comprised of 2 kanji meaning 'spiritual energy'. The word Reiki far predates the practice of Reiki. The kanji for Reiki have roots in the Chinese word Ling Chi / Qi which also has the same meaning. Reiki is the essence of everything.
The practice we know today as Reiki is more appropriately referred to as Usui Dô meaning 'the Way of Usui' (Sensei Usui was the founder of this practice) or Reiki Ryôhô meaning 'spiritual energy healing method'.
The practice of Reiki is a healing method that draws from Source energy - the essence of all that is. It is practiced clothed most commonly laying on a massage table, but can be administered in any position. As practitioners, Reiki is not just something we do, it's who we are. In truth, Reiki is what every being/thing is. The Spirit School is all about integrating this healing lifestyle that honors all things with our current life flow. Doing so restores balance in the spirit and opens incredible abundance in life.

All Spirit School certifications are printed using Reiki Ryôhô to honor all aspects of the work done.

  3. How long is the program?
The main portion of Spirit School curriculum is one year. Once students pass through the Level Four portal they can walk into the role of Reiki Master when they're ready (explained below.) After the Reiki Master Initiation, students are then invited into the Reiki Master Independent Study circle which they may remain in for as long as they would like.

There are 4 levels within the program, each lasting 3 months. Students may take their time moving through the program, progressing to the next level when it's right for each person's spirit.
Some people seek years to integrate the foundation of a level before moving deeper, while some are ready for the full course straight away. Your inner guidance will show you what is right when the time comes. All you have to do is trust it.

  4. How does a distance Reiki training work?
This class is focused on self healing, integrating sacred work with daily life, and energy work. It is actually more powerful to practice this from a distance. Doing so allows you to understand how the work fits into your life, it allows you to slowly make the changes necessary to fully step into the role of healer, and creates a strong foundation for self work beyond the container of class. Plus, energy is not bound by space and time as we are in physical form. The work is just as powerful when done from afar. This is something we explore in depth during class.

    >> Level One is focused on working with self healing Reiki. Most programs skim over this work and go straight for client work, we sink in deep to fully integrate to Reiki the practice and Reiki the word.

    >> Level Two is where we begin focusing on client work and there are two parts to this: local and distance healings.
:: With local healings you will be working on your closest family & friends. This creates a space that is loving and compassionate so you can explore working with another, and gives you an opportunity to practice explaining the work to those who may not have a frame of reference for it.

:: With distance healings you work with your classmates. This allows you to practice on somebody who does understand the practice and can share their experience/give feedback in a stronger way. Distance healing is another aspect most Reiki trainings do not cover because there simply isn't time in a day long class.

We will explore may different options between Level Two, Three, and Four for how you may want to offer your sessions. You will have plenty of time to try them out and see what works for you. By the time you leave class, you will have been working with the practice for a full year (or longer) giving you an incredible foundation to work with clients.

  5. What type of community outreach does the Spirit School do?
With each Spirit School student, a portion of tuition is donated to purchase a backpack of school supplies for children in a small village in Thailand near Cambodia. We also host bi-annual Spirit School fundraisers where students auction off healing sessions when they're ready (or other modalities they're trained in) and all money raised goes to various initiatives that we're working on that year.

All alumni are invited to attend the annual Community Healing Retreat where we gather in various locations around the world to offer support to a community in need. The first portion of the retreat is for grounding and healing ourselves through ceremony, movement, meditation, and Reiki. The second portion of the retreat is spent doing Seva (selfless service) and offering free healing sessions to a community. The next few years we will be partnering with local organizations to support initiatives that are already in motion. Moving forward the goal is to be able to fund larger scale offerings (like adding a well/water filtration system) directly through the Spirit School. We continue to work with the community we served at the retreat throughout the year with money raised during our bi-annual fundraiser.

  6. I am already a Reiki practitioner, may I join a later level?
Given the unique structure of class, I do not take new students at later levels. There are 2 reasons for this:
    1. This course is designed to build on itself through the levels. We explore many tools beyond the practice of Reiki and they are consistently referenced in further levels. Without a foundation is the Spirit School, it will be difficult to keep up. Remember, this class isn't about just about showing up and learning, it's about integrating

    2. This is a community building course. Students travel together starting in Level One with support for Spirit School Alumni. They share deep wounds and become very close with their classmates. Entering this dynamic at a latter point in the journey is likely to make one feel like they don't belong. Each classmates carries sacred pieces of their brother's & sister's journeys within them. This is a place to come together as one and I certainly don't want anybody to feel alienated along the way.

  7. What is the difference between a Certificate of Completion and a Certificate of Training?
Creating space for students to honor their truest path has been a large factor for me while creating this course. In order to allow deeper space for students to listen to their own rhythm, I have created two styles of certificates. It is a blend of the more traditional style of certification of Sensi Usui & Dr. Hayashi and a Western style certification.

    >> Certificate of Completion (Western)
Indicates a student has integrated the lessons of that level and they are ready to move forward.
    >> Certificate of Training (Traditional)
Indicates a student is continuing to work on the concepts and tools of that level. When they feel they are ready to move forward, they will contact me. I will check in with their energy/guides to see if it is time to move forward. If I hear they still need time, I will give a reflection with guidance for what is being asked to be worked on before moving forward.

  8. Why don't we graduate the year program as a Reiki Master?

The attunements one receives does not signify that they have completed that level of training but rather the pathway to that vibration has been opened to them (something we explore in Level One.) It is this reason, as well as my own path stepping into the role of Reiki Master, that I have not felt comfortable with everybody simply graduating the year long program as a 'Reiki Master.'

Becoming a master of this work is not something you learn, it is the way you live. There is a deep internal shift that brings this role into your life. I feel this is a title of great honor and should not be give simply based on showing up for a class. I do not agree with the way this term is currently used in our field. My goal with the Spirit School has been to bring deeper merit to this work in the West and support the full journey of stepping onto this sacred path. This structure has been made to honor the rhythm of each soul, and the depth of this work.
If you would like to hear more about this, please feel free to email me at vyana@muditawellness.com

  9. How does the Reiki Master Initiation work?

The Reiki Master (RM) initiation course is by invitation. In this offering there will be 1 final reading assignment (no Mudita manual) and I will students teach how to give attunements. You will then receive a certification that reads Spirit School Reiki Master.

Beyond this portion of study students may choose to enter into the RM Independent Study group (explained below.)

TO ENTER THE RM INITIATION COURSE
Receiving an invitation is not a value of your worth. It's simply a sign that you are ready to hold this role.
Some students may be invited to enter the RM Initiation Course immediately upon completion of Level 4, many will need to take time outside of the class structure to integrate. There may be years between completing L4 and entering RM. There is no right path. It is only ever about what is right for you. This is not a one size fits all experience.

If you are in need of space between L4 and RM, there are 2 ways to receive an invitation to enter the initiation:
    1. When you feel you're ready you can send me an email. I will check in with your energy/guides and ask if it is your time. If it's not time yet, I will email you a reflection of what your guides/energy are asking you to work on.
    2. If I receive guidance that it is your time before you contact me, I will reach out to you and ask if you feel you're ready.

Stepping into the role of Reiki Master is both mental & spiritual. You energy body and form must be ready to take the step together. If you are invited but are not mentally ready, we will check back in when you feel called.

  10. How does the Reiki Master Independent Study work?
The RM Independent Study group is a place to continue receiving support as you journey deeper into your path while connecting with your peers.
This is a monthly membership style group. Member dues are $10 / month.
    With dues students receive:
    >> 40% off 1-1 Sessions with me so they may receive deeper guidance and coaching through the transitions
    >> Monthly Virtual Group Gatherings
    >> Access to the private RM group
    >> Satya Prompts
    >> RM Book Club
    >> Invitation to the Spirit School Teach Training (coming 2018)

Once passing through the RM Initiation, students may come and go within the Independent Study group as they desire.

  11. Can I take this class if I don't live in the United States?
    Absolutely!
Class may fall at a weird hour for you, but there are certainly ways of working with this. You can ask your questions for the live lecture ahead of time and watch the recorded video after we meet live. If this is the case, it's important to interact via email and social media with your classmates so you feel connected to the group and they feel connected with you. Email me at vyana@muditawellness.com if you'd like to talk about this more.

  12. What is the general flow of the Spirit School / class?
    Spirit School Flow:
In many ways the Spirit School mirrors traditional school.
Instead of a Principal, there's a High Priestess, instead of writing papers, we write stories and heart songs.
You will sign a contract in your first week of class, but unlike most University contracts, this is one to yourself.
And most notably, most assignments aren't due like they are in traditional school. You are encouraged to move at your own pace and work with the tools that call to you.

Mandatory Assignments (using Level One as an example)
    >  welcome questionnaire
    > welcome introduction
    > 20 minute monthly 1 - 1 with me
    > spirit story at the end of L1
    > blessings / poem at the end of L1
(( there is a lot of work that leads up to these assignments, so don't worry if you're feeling any shadow emotions upon reading this now ))

    General Class Flow
Each week you will have a pre-recorded video to watch (average 10 minutes), a chapter to read in the Mudita Manual (average 15 minutes), 1 - 2 chapters in your supplemental class texts (average 30 - 45 minutes), a live lecture (90 minute max), and various activities you may choose from including meditations, spiritual podcasts, TedTalks, writing exercises, and so on.

Course work is intended  to be done between classes.
Ex: After we meet for week one : vision (L1) you do your vision activities and readings. During the week two lecture I will recap the assignments from vision and prep for week two : grounding.

Lectures are held on Crowdcast which has some fantastic features integrated into the platform. You may access the 'lecture hall' early and add questions to the questions feed which will be answered during class, you can interact with your classmates in a group chat during the class, and I can ask you all questions in poll form. All lectures are recorded and held on the platform. You may access the lectures anytime.
There is also an easy to use Crowdcast app if you happen to be on the go.

This is just a brief overview. If you have any other questions about class, please email me at vyana@muditawellness.com

  13. Most Reiki trainings teach client sessions in Level One. Why do you wait until Level Two?
Within this program you are given the space to understand the practice on a personal level so you are strong and prepared to work with clients. I believe this is a necessary step in becoming a Reiki practitioner. I wouldn't feel comfortable seeing a yoga instructor who had never practiced yoga before. Same goes for this work.

When I first studied Reiki I walked away from my day long training with questions and an overall sense of 'I can't work with a client yet!' But there wasn't anyplace to go deeper / get more support. Integrating this work into my life was difficult. As I lifted higher and higher in my vibration and grew away from most people who had been in my life thus far, I started feeling alone and overwhelmed. I deeply believe that we need more as those who are stepping onto or adding to our healing tools. We need to feel strong, loved, supported so that we may offer the same to our clients.

Level One is focused on working with self healing Reiki, which most programs skim over. During this time I will help guide you through your inner shadows so they may rise to the light. Understanding how to navigate the shadow realm will make your integration process smoother and more stable, allow you to give a more powerful class to students.

  14. I don't know anything about Reiki, can I still enroll?
    Yes, absolutely!
I didn't know anything about Reiki when I showed up to my first class. My heart said "YES!" and I knew I had to go. Hearing the call from within your heart/spirit is the most important thing when signing up for class. Listen for that call. When the time is right, all will flow.

  15. What is the weekly time commitment like?
Students generally spend between 5 - 10 hours on class a week.
There are possibilities to spend less time than that by integrated more fully with your current life flow. We explore many tools that allow for this. I am also available to help guide your daily routine via email or during our monthly 1 - 1 check ins. In the past I have gone hour by hour, minute by minute through students days to help then fit the work in without overwhelming them.

    Balance is key!

  16. If I graduate the full program can I teach the Spirit School Curriculum myself?
A Spirit School Teacher Training program is being developed and will be released late 2018/early 2019. As of right now, students may not teach the curriculum after completing the course. Once the RTT (Reiki Teacher Training) program is available, all students who have passed through the Reiki Master Initiation will be invited to attend.
This course will be similar to a month long YTT (yoga teacher training) intensive.
Once students move through the Spirit School RTT they will be certified Spirit School instructors, holding Reiki Master Teacher certificates through the school and will be listed on the main Spirit School instructor database.

  17. How much does class cost?
Each level is $1,200 including all items listed on the course home page. Payment plans, scholarships, and work-trade positions are available.
I work to make this course accessible to all while still meeting my own needs.

  18. How do scholarships work?
Scholarships are rewarded on a first come, first served basis. There are 3 awarded to each cohort. I ask that only those who truly need a scholarship sign up for them and trust that those who do are not doing so to simply get a discount. Integrity is a foundation in this work.
If you are in need of a scholarship, make sure to sign up fro the Reiki Wait List. I will announce open registration to this list before I announce to the public.

  19. How does the work trade position work?
PLEASE NOTE THE 2016 WORK TRADE SPACES HAVE BEEN GIVEN AS GIFTS INSTEAD OF WORK TRADE. APRIL'S CLASS WAS DONATED TO AN AUCTION FOR MIDWIVES FOR PEACE THROUGH TRIBE DE MAMA. THE JANUARY & JULY CLASSES HAVE BEEN GIFTED TO SINGLE MOTHERS.
Work trade requires 5 hours of work / week for the duration of the year long course. There are quarterly reviews for all work traders to asses how to trade is aligning on both sides.

    Work Trade Application Process:
    > Fill out an application when they become available. Make sure to sign up for the Reiki Wait List.
    > I will blind select 3 applications. During this process I conceal all names and select based purely on applications.
    > The 3 applicants chosen will have an interview with me.
    > One applicant will be chosen.

Please note that this is an additional 5 hours on top of your time commitment to yourself. It's important to be mindful and realistic with your scheduling.

  20. How do payment plans work?
There are 2 options for payment plans : graduated and static.
Static payment plans remain the same amount for the entire duration of class. Ex: $210 for 24 months (full program), $410 for 3 months (one level)

Graduated payment plans increase as you continue on in the program. The lowest monthly payment is $45 / month. This is based on a 36 month payment period, but the length can be stretched by taking breaks between levels. This will help keep your payments low and allows you to progress when it spiritually & financially works for you.

If you take all 4 levels back to back, your plan would look like this:
