An Energetic Signature

transcends mediums

One of my neurodivergent superpowers is the ability to learn many different skills at a rapid pace. This sweet spot between Autism and ADHD reveals itself heavily in my multimedia practices. For years, I struggled against my inability (rather, lack of desire) to niche down to one medium.

I love exploring new ways of expressing myself, and it has become easy to see how interconnected these practices are.

There’s an intelligence my hands have learned over the years that can feel where there’s overlapping information between media. Much like when I worked as a trigger point massage therapist, I listen with my hands.

In any medium, I arrive as I am, with all that has shaped me, the actions I’m presently making, and the decisions about who I’m becoming. When I remain congruent, my core ethos has no issue revealing itself in any form I desire.

These days, in my personal practice, I am mostly sculpting, painting, block printing, and working with earth pigment on natural fibers.

Many of the projects coming to fruition this season are growing from seeds planted long ago.

Exploring a wide range of media encourages me to move slow and let my work simmer. This gives me the opportunity to witness time passing through works of art, and my own personal evolution through the way my ideas evolve.

My Media

Throughout my creative career, these are some of the media I’ve used:

  • Fiber Art including weaving, natural dye, eco printing, leather painting, and clothing fabrication.

  • Painting focusing on watercolor and ink.

  • Basketry & Plant Cordage using any viable plant material I can gather, or using palm like my ancestors.

  • Sculpture & Bas Relief

  • Dance & Performing Arts

  • Block Printing

  • Woodworking

  • Writing

  • Design & Illustration

  • and of course, pigment foraging and processing
