What the Ancestors Say

I hear them in me, screaming and singing.
Every step I walk is the echo of theirs.

I hear them around me, in the unseen.
Every action I make is an echo of theirs.

They move through me.
They are me—and I them.
But I—I am also me.
With my sovereignty,
I decide.

There is great power in listening to What the Ancestors Say.

And there is great power in saying back to them, ‘no.’
